Pensées de Nuit
My current work combines my interpretation of ironies found in contemporary society with musings from my personal journals over the years. Reflections of life are painted into colors on canvas, contrasting lightheartedness with serious reflections. The journal entries that caption my paintings are written in French. This is so that the words can be part of the background of the paintings, not the primary focus: one step removed from the art, a true secondary comment on the painting’s mood. By doing this, I strive to evoke within the viewer a deeper, more personal involvement with the process and properties of my art. |

Transformations
The transformative process requires us to change completely. The changes we experience with time call on us to end a part of our life and begin a new one. This series represents the self, experiencing and embracing the process and finally expanding into a place of strength and awareness. I choose to believe that transformation is always a gift, no matter how it may appear, and in this series I strive to capture the emotions and the gifts of the life-altering transformative process. |
